My Story

Hi, I'm Lucy

I’m the founder of Williams Personal Safety. As a woman, I believe there is nothing more empowering than having the confidence and ability to stand up for yourself and those around you. After experiencing an attack myself, I understand first-hand how important it is for women to feel confident, aware, and capable of protecting themselves.

Martial arts transformed my confidence and self-belief, and now my mission is to help other women experience that same empowerment.

Through supportive and personalised coaching, I help women develop the skills, awareness, and mindset needed to stay safe in the real world.

Here are some questions frequently asked by my clients.

Do I need to be fit to start?

Not at all. You don’t need any previous fitness or martial arts experience to begin. My sessions are tailored to your individual ability and fitness level, and we’ll progress at a pace that feels comfortable for you. The goal is to help you build confidence, skills, and fitness over time in a supportive environment.

How much does it cost?

Your first 30-minute introductory session is free, giving us a chance to meet, discuss your goals, and see if the coaching is right for you.

After your introduction session:

£25 per session
£200 for a block of 10 sessions

Where do sessions take place?

Sessions take place in a safe training environment in Abingdon, Oxfordshire where you can learn and practise techniques comfortably. Full details will be provided when booking.

How long is each session?

Sessions typically last around 60 minutes, giving us plenty of time to work on techniques, fitness, and personal safety skills.

Do you offer anything other than 1–2–1 coaching sessions?

Yes. Alongside my private 1–2–1 coaching sessions, I also run a variety of personal safety events within the community. I can also be booked for workshops, seminars, and community events for groups, organisations, or workplaces. If you’re interested in arranging an event, please feel free to get in touch.

What happens during the first session?

Your first 30-minute introductory session is free. We’ll discuss your goals, go through some basic movements, and make sure the training feels right for you.

Is this suitable for complete beginners?

Absolutely. Many of my clients start with no previous martial arts experience. Sessions are always adapted to your ability and comfort level.

Can I train if I feel nervous or lack confidence?

Yes, and many women feel this way when starting. My sessions are designed to be supportive and encouraging, helping you build confidence gradually at your own pace.
